Kolkata, India

The past month has been one of tireless dedication in the Behala area of Kolkata. Our mobile teams have been on the front lines, providing critical care and emergency interventions to those who need it most.

Our team successfully administered 809 medical treatments this month. While our daily rounds primarily address the ongoing challenges of urban animal life—including traffic accidents, territorial injuries, and general illness—our rescuers have also stepped up to handle several high-intensity emergency situations.

We received an urgent call regarding a kitten stranded on a fourth-floor ledge of a local hotel. Our team performed a precision retrieval, successfully bringing the kitten to safety without injury. We are happy to report the kitten has been returned to the local school that provides its permanent care.

After a crow became entangled in dangerous kite thread high in a tree, our team was called in by a local school. We were able to free the bird from the threading and release it back into the wild, much to the thanks of the faculty and students.

Our mission is as much about education as it is about medicine. This month, our outreach initiatives saw significant growth and public recognition.

We were thrilled to welcome a group of student volunteers from Kolkata University. By accompanying our team in the field, these students gained firsthand experience in animal welfare and helped amplify our community outreach efforts.

Our awareness programs were recently featured in two prominent local newspapers: Morning India and Alipore Barta. The coverage highlighted our team’s visits to local schools, where we engage with children on the importance of animal welfare and empower the community to take an active role in rescuing and caring for local animals.

Chiang Rai, Thailand

Our team is currently caring for 53 animals at our shelter—providing daily food, shelter, enrichment, and ongoing medical care. Alongside shelter work, we’ve continued community outreach in local villages and stayed ready to respond to emergency calls whenever animals need urgent help.

Our efforts in Thailand continue to focus on long-term solutions and community-led care. This month was marked by a highly successful sterilization drive and a surge in local volunteer support.

On March 14th, our team hosted a large-scale sterilization event, providing vital services to both the stray population and local pets. We successfully sterilized 63 animals, including 27 dogs and 36 cats.

By performing these procedures, we are proactively addressing the stray crisis. It is estimated that these 63 sterilizations will prevent the birth of approximately 400 to 500 unwanted puppies and kittens over the next year alone, significantly reducing the number of animals born into hardship.

By focusing on these high-impact events, we continue to reduce the strain on local resources and prevent future suffering.

A highlight of the event was the participation of a professional stray dog groomer who volunteered their time to offer free grooming services. This was a massive hit with the local community as the region prepares for the intense summer heat.
