Dear Friends and Supporters This month has been full of incredible stories, hard work, and heartwarming outcomes. Treatments Performed This Month: 1.050
Treatments Performed Year to Date: 10,208
Kolkata, India
Our Street Treatment Ambulance Project had an outstanding month—one of the busiest we’ve ever seen—with 847 treatments provided in the last 30 days (the second-highest monthly total in the project’s history). Huge credit to the team for the pace, consistency, and compassion it takes to reach that level of impact on the streets every day.
Exciting News! We’ve now split the team into two units, including a smaller rapid-response motorcycle team that can move quickly through the city to reach cases we couldn’t access as efficiently before. This approach allows us to treat more animals, respond faster, and extend our reach into new areas—while also creating new leadership opportunities within the staff as additional shift leaders step up and grow into expanded roles.
Most of this month’s cases were the urgent, everyday realities of street life—dogfight wounds, vehicle injuries, skin disease, and other common conditions—and the team is already preparing for our annual January vaccination drive, targeting several hundred animals over the course of the month. We’re proud of the momentum in Kolkata and excited for what this next phase will make possible.
As we expand our efforts, Animal People Alliance is currently recruiting a certified paravet to join our Kolkata team in Behala. This role is vital in supporting daily treatment operations, rescue missions, and vaccination drives. If you or someone you know is interested in joining our mission, please email Nafiza at nafiza@animalpeoplealliance.
Chiang Rai, Thailand
In Chiang Rai, our team is currently caring for 53 animals at our shelter—providing daily food, shelter, enrichment, and ongoing medical care. Alongside shelter work, we’ve continued community outreach in local villages and stayed ready to respond to emergency calls whenever animals need urgent help.
This month we completed our final sterilization event of the year, bringing our year-to-date total to 555 animals sterilized. This is a major milestone for the project. Using conservative estimates from animal-welfare impact assessments, sterilizing 555 animals can prevent tens of thousands of unwanted births over the coming years—dramatically reducing future suffering while improving community health and welfare.
Finally, our local partner and Chance Foundation Director, Jeed, traveled to Hat Yai for over a week following the catastrophic flooding. She delivered large quantities of food (including dog and cat food for families who couldn’t access supplies), supported cleanup efforts, and assisted with rescue work in the hardest-hit areas.
We’re incredibly proud of her—and grateful to everyone who helps make rapid response and relief like this possible.
