Kolkata, India

October was another busy month for our Kolkata team, who provided 743 treatments to animals in need across the city. Most of the cases were the everyday challenges we regularly encounter—dogfight wounds, skin diseases, vehicle injuries, and other common street-animal issues—but each one received the care and attention they deserved.

Our Kolkata team is preparing for a major community initiative this January — a rabies vaccination drive with the goal of vaccinating 1,000 animals in one month. This campaign will play a vital role in improving community health and safety by reducing the spread of rabies, protecting both people and animals. Rabies remains one of the most serious yet preventable diseases in India, and widespread vaccination is the most effective way to eliminate it. With the support of local residents and volunteers, our team in Behala is working hard to ensure that as many street and community animals as possible are reached during this drive.

As we expand our efforts, Animal People Alliance is currently recruiting a certified paravet to join our Kolkata team in Behala. This role is vital in supporting daily treatment operations, rescue missions, and vaccination drives. If you or someone you know is interested in joining our mission, please email Nafiza at nafiza@animalpeoplealliance.net for details.

Chiang Rai, Thailand

Earlier this month, we were thrilled to welcome a group of dedicated student volunteers from UWC Thailand in Phuket to our Chiang Rai shelter. Over the course of a week, the students immersed themselves in every aspect of our operations — assisting with daily shelter care, animal rescues, and medical treatments. Their enthusiasm, compassion, and hard work brought incredible energy to our team and made a tangible difference in the lives of the animals we care for.

We are deeply grateful for their support and the time they dedicated to helping us further our mission.

Meanwhile, our Chiang Rai team is now gearing up for our final sterilization event of the year, scheduled for November. These events are critical to reducing the stray population and preventing future suffering, and we look forward to finishing the year strong with your continued support.

We’re also excited to share that our next immersion / volunteer trip to Chiang Rai is happening this January. This unique experience gives participants the opportunity to work hands-on with our rescue team, learn about animal welfare challenges in Northern Thailand, and directly contribute to lifesaving care. See below for further details, and we hope to welcome many of you in person for this unforgettable experience.

2026 Thailand Volunteer & Immersion Trip
January 31 – February 14

Discover: Bangkok & Chiang Rai

Join us for two unforgettable weeks combining hands-on animal rescue work, cultural immersion, and breathtaking landscapes.

We’ll begin our journey in Bangkok, spending four unforgettable nights in Southeast Asia’s most vibrant city. You’ll take in all the iconic sights, enjoy time to explore at your own pace, and savor some of the most incredible meals you’ve ever tasted.

Next up is Chiang Rai, where you’ll spend six days volunteering at the Animal People Alliance funded shelter—feeding, bathing, and caring for rescued dogs and cats. You’ll also visit tribal villages and engage with community-led animal welfare efforts while exploring the traditions of northern Thailand’s indigenous people.

We also have a series of unforgettable day trips planned to showcase the best of Northern Thailand’s culture and landscapes. You’ll journey to the legendary Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet, and explore the region’s fascinating history and breathtaking river views. We’ll visit the serene mountain gardens and royal villa at Doi Tung, surrounded by lush hills and cool breezes. Along the way, you’ll discover charming local villages, sample authentic northern cuisine, and enjoy a few hidden gems that most visitors never get to see—making every excursion both scenic and enriching.

This trip is a unique blend of meaningful service, cultural connection, and immersive travel—an opportunity to make a difference while discovering the soul of Thailand.

Spaces are limited—come make memories (and impact) that last a lifetime!
